The New York City Research Initiative (NYCRI) Research Summit was held Thursday, August 2nd, 2012, in the Great Hall, inside Shepard Hall, at City College, in New York City. Seven students conducted summer research on robotics at Rutgers University and Stevens Institute of Technology. They were mentored by Prof. Haim Baruh and Prof. Joseph S. Miles. Each of the teams built their own robots, wrote research papers on the results of their findings, and made several oral presentations.

The New York City Research Initiative program of NASA Goddard Institute of Space Studies develops and supports research group college students, high school students and K-12 teachers. These groups conduct summer research at a university within a 50 mile radius of New York City.
