Alexandria Austin, Chris Blackwood, Chris Cowan, Joshua Gross, Zack Shoop, Jesse Stevenson, Adam Testa, Sam Yakovlev and Prof. Joseph S. Miles, recently returned from the annual Rock-SAT-C launch. Other team members, not pictured, consist of Ronald Ankner, Richard Thorton, Stephen Kontrimas, and Prof. Nicholaus Parziale. The team constructed two experiments for launch on a sounding rocket payload. The first experiment utilized a pressure sensor to measure turbulent and laminar air flow over the nosecone of the rocket. While the second experiment conducted was to test mechanical vibrations reduction. Pictured are the payload in various stages of integration and completion; Jesse Stevenson and Alexandria Austin making presentations at NASA; and all 30 of the NASA Wallops Island rocket team. After eight years in operation, it is safe to say Stevens Institute of Technology has a sounding rocket program led by Prof. Miles. The team transported the payload to Wallops Island, Virginia, and NASA launched it approximately 75 miles into space on Friday June 21st, 2018.
