Iris You Awarded Barry Goldwater Scholarship

Iris You, an undergraduate student supported by the New Jersey Space Grant Consortium, has been awarded the prestigious Barry Goldwater Scholarship—one of the nation’s most competitive awards for undergraduate students pursuing careers in science, mathematics, and engineering. This scholarship will enable her to engage in high-level research and continue her academic journey toward a doctorate focused on atomic structures and their relation to material behavior.

The Barry Goldwater Scholarship, named in honor of Senator Barry Goldwater, supports students with outstanding potential in research fields critical to the advancement of science and technology. Iris is among just four Rutgers students to receive this distinguished honor, highlighting her exceptional dedication to scientific exploration and innovation. She is currently conducting research under Professor Jonathan Singer from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Rutgers, which serves as the lead institution for NJSGC.
