RiSE (Research in Science and Engineering) is an undergraduate summer research program that is run by Rutgers University and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of N.J., to advance diversity in science, math, and engineering. Each year, about 20 minority undergraduate students in STEM fields nationwide are selected from a competitive pool and and invited to Rutgers to spend a summer involved in research, tutoring, enrichment and preparation for graduate study.
The New Jersey Space Grant Consortium had its Summer Fellowship Conference on July 29, 2010. 10 outstanding scholars from universities throughout our state presented their research.
The New York City Research Initiative Program (NYCRI), a program of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), annually sponsors high school students, undergraduate college students and high school teachers for the purpose of increasing the number of students in the STEM pathway (pipeline) by providing research and classroom experiences "as only NASA can". During 2010, the annual research conference for the summer program was held at CCNY on July 29th where groups of students presented their research.
